i’m CHUY
it truly warms my heart that you are here!
I’ve been an artist for most of my life, and I decided to really chase after my dreams of becoming an artist after marrying the love of my life and welcoming our first son. I can’t believe it’s been close to 10 years now since all of this came to be.
Now, with three beautiful children, two dogs, and our church rescue kitty, my wife and I are truly living our dreams of playing house as grown children in the stunning desert of Joshua Tree, CA.
I wake up every single day blessed beyond imagination, getting to do what I love — create art! Being an artist and pursuing your dreams can be such a lonely journey for anyone, and I’m deeply grateful that the masterpieces I get to create with all of you funkers are rooted in human connection. That connection is undeniably the foundation and true essence of creating genuine art that everyone can relate to. I’m so excited that you’re here and that you get a chance to not only follow along on my journey as an artist, but also become a part of it as well.

behind the art
My name is Jesus “Chuy” Rodriguez, but literally everyone calls me Chuy. Jesus is a very beautiful name that I’m very proud to have, but it also comes with very big shoes to fill. And while I’m always up for a challenge, Chuy will work in the meantime.
I just turned 31 in December (Sag funkin’ baby, here!) and am truly living past my wildest dreams — all thanks to you funkers! I not only get to photograph some of the BEST moments of your entire life (whether you’re screaming at the top of a mountain saying, “I FUNKIN’ DO,” or getting tangled up with one another in a steamy session), but I also love how you funkers literally funk with me through whatever kind of artist I evolve into.
For example, I am also a tattoo artist and have been for the past 8 years. I find it very similar to photographing the kind of art I create, as it shares the same closeness, intentionality, and precision. I’m very big on energy and allow that to flow seamlessly throughout our time creating together, allowing it to connect us passionately in whatever kind of masterpieces we get ourselves into!
